Surface Finish Options for 5-Axis CNC Machined Parts
We offer a wide range of surface finishing options for our 5-axis machined parts to meet diverse needs. These include common finishes like as-machined (leaving tool marks), anodizing (for aluminum corrosion resistance and color), and polishing (for a high-gloss look). 1 We also provide more specialized options such as sand blasting (for a matte texture), tumbling (for smoothing small parts), electropolishing (for enhanced smoothness and corrosion resistance), and various coatings like alodine, powder coating, and electroplating for added protection and specific properties.
Beyond these, we offer heat treatment to alter material properties like hardness and strength, a brushed finish for a satin texture, and black oxide for steel.

High-requirement Finishing
For 5-axis CNC machining projects with stringent requirements like AS9100 and ITAR, our domestic precision machining services are available. For complex anodizing, plating, or specialized material needs such as titanium or nickel, or for unique color requirements, we leverage our digital network of manufacturing partners, ensuring access to a broad range of specialized capabilities.
What is 5-Axis CNC machining?
5-axis CNC machining refers to a computer-controlled manufacturing process where a cutting tool moves across a workpiece in five different axes simultaneously. These axes typically include the three linear axes (X, Y, and Z) and two rotational axes (A and B or A and C). This simultaneous movement allows for the creation of highly complex geometries, undercuts, and intricate details in a single setup, minimizing handling and improving accuracy.
Unlike 3-axis machining, which is limited to moving the tool along three linear axes, 5-axis machining enables the workpiece to be oriented at various angles relative to the cutting tool. This capability significantly reduces the need for multiple setups and fixtures.
